Poem: “Fairness” by Teresa Edmond

A senryu is a Japanese short-form of poetry written like haiku style. Syllable counts are traditionally 5/7/5 (like haiku). There are senryu poems that follow the more untraditional 3/5/3, and others that don’t follow either syllable rule. Whereas haikus are written about nature, senryus are typically satirical, humorous commentary on human nature.

This is a new senryu I’ve written called “Fairness”:

Fairness by Teresa Edmond
Editor won’t print
news of kickback charge on mayor –
his son’s godfather.
