Addicted to books

Seriously, there must be a 12-step group for people who are addicted to buying books, yet never get around to reading.

Last Friday (which was my birthday, by the way 🙂 ), I went to a used book sale at a firehouse in Kinnelon, NJ. You can only imagine the excitement coursing through my system as I thought about what books they might have for sale there. All proceeds go to the Kinnelon Public Library. Let me tell you, when I walked into that firehouse, it was a beautiful sight! Tables and shelves packed the whole room, and a whole treasure trove laid out before me. Books on sale, for a bargain – who could beat that? And it was my birthday, so to get books at $1 and $2 each was heaven. I picked out some classics like Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, and Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. (I read Frankenstein before but I liked it so much I’m willing to reread it). I’ve also picked out The Fat Girl by Marilyn Sachs, which is a variation of the classic tale Pygmalion, and Tales from the Brothers Grimm and Sister Weird, a quirky retelling of classic fairy tales.

I realized that when I die, I want my heaven to be a mega-bookstore. With a cafe that has wi-fi access and a computer.
